Illustrations
The original purpose of illustrations was to break up long texts with sketches and drawings and to bring things closer to the reader.

They are also often used to illustrate construction projects, product presentations, procedures or as informants.
True to the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words," the impact of an illustration stands alone like no other visualization tool. Depending on the purpose, the visual implementation can take a variety of forms: as a drawing, as a photorealistic graphic, or as a realistic 3D graphic.
